6 Tips to Get Your House Ready to List this Spring
If you plan to sell your home this spring, there are a number of things you can do before you list to make your home stand out. Here are our tips to get your home ready to list this Spring:
Tip #1 – Do your Spring cleaning first! Wash those windows, dust the blinds, get the cobwebs out of the corners, sweep those dust bunnies out from under the furniture, and spend a little extra time cleaning those “seldom cleaned” items on your checklist. Buyers will notice!
Tip #2 – Do your outdoor spring cleaning too! Spring cleaning doesn’t just happen inside the walls of your home. Be sure to do your outdoor spring cleaning as well! Clear away dead foliage, trim trees and bushes, and break out the pressure washer to wash down the driveway, patio, house, walkways, and any other outdoor surfaces that have accumulated winter grime or sticky yellow pollen. Clean and/or paint your front door and trim so your home looks fresh before the buyer even walks in!
Tip #3 – Clear the clutter! De-clutter closets, counters, basements, garages, attics, and any other space that seems to be a landing place for all those odds and ends. Pack away winter sweaters, coats, and boots to show off the spaciousness of closets. For whatever can’t be packed away – organize, organize, organize!
Tip #4 – Take care of pre-inspection repairs. If you know something is broken or needs replacement, go ahead and do it. Don’t wait for buyers to notice repairs that are needed or for their inspector to find them. The entire process will go much smoother without a list of pesky repair projects you never quite got around to.
Tip #5 – Bring in the Spring! Add touches of bright Spring colors with colorful throw pillows, fresh white curtains, opened blinds to let the light in, and maybe even a tasteful vase of fresh Spring flowers. Just a few seasonal touches can brighten your home and make buyers feel welcome.
Tip #6 – Price it right AND list it with the right realtor! Make sure you choose a realtor who is as excited about selling your home as you are and can help you price it right for the current market conditions. An experienced Century 21 Broadhurst agent can help you.
With these handy six tips, you’ll be primed and ready to list your home this Spring. A little bit of preparation beforehand can make a big difference once you have buyers eyeballing every detail as they tour your home looking for their next home!
